Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 18 – The International Monetary Fund (IMF) reaffirmed its commitment to supporting financial stability and human resource development in Cambodia.

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet received a courtesy call by on Krishna Srinivasan, Director of the Asia and Pacific Department of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), on Tuesday (Dec. 17) at the Peace Palace.

During the meeting, Krishna Srinivasan commended Cambodia’s sustained economic growth and resilience.

The director also expressed satisfaction with the past cooperation between the IMF and various ministries and institutions of the Royal Government of Cambodia. He reaffirmed the IMF’s commitment to further strengthening ties and supporting Cambodia in maintaining financial stability and advancing human resource development.

For his part, Samdech Thipadei extended his gratitude to the IMF for its significant role in Cambodia’s socio-economic development. He also expressed his appreciation for the IMF’s dedication to further strengthening and expanding its partnership with the Royal Government of Cambodia.

Samdech Thipadei also underlined the Royal Government’s ongoing efforts to implement necessary reforms and mechanisms aimed at fostering economic growth. These include policies to enhance competitiveness, strengthen the resilience of domestic supply chains, and develop a skilled workforce in technology, machinery, and high-tech industries to meet both domestic and international market demands.

Furthermore, the Royal Government has introduced policies, measures, and incentive packages to create a favourable and highly competitive investment environment that ensures the success of investors in Cambodia.

Both sides also exchanged views on the broader regional and global economic landscape amidst current and future uncertainties.
