PHNOM PENH (FN), Feb. 14 — A lawmaker was pulled over and fined by traffic police in Khan Meanchey, Phnom Penh, in the night of Feb.13, for driving without his seat belt on, police said.
Police officer of Khan Meanchey district said that Cambodian National Rescue Party’s lawmaker, Real Khemrin, was caught driving on Street 271 in the night of Feb.13, without seat belt on. “He was somehow resisting to police action and continued to drive on but finally police managed to stop and give him a ticket,” said the officer.
According to the new traffic law, a driver is subject to a fine of 25,000 Riels ($6.25) for a family vehicle if caught driving without seat belt on, and 50,000 Riels ($12.50) for driver of a cargo truck.
