United States (FN), Feb. 15 – At the meeting with about 500 Cambodians in the United States, Prime Minister Hun Sen said he had been in his position through already three U.S. Presidents respectively Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barak Obama, and that he was currently in the U.S. to attend the U.S.-ASEAN summit as a dialogue partner and not in a subservient role to the U.S.

The premier said he came to the summit meeting as the leader of a sovereign government, just on an equal footing with President Barak Obama. So, he is not a follower of the U.S., said the premier to the meeting held at Hyatt Regency Indian Wells Hotel in the city of Rancho Mirage, California that finished at around 6:30 P.M. on Feb. 14.

The Cambodian Prime Minister also took that opportunity to mock that Cambodia has had now a foreign debt of only about $300 per person compared with $52,000 per person in the U.S. which is quite a lot, he said.

He was also critical of the U.S. in terms of airline as well as telephone services.

The Prime Minister left Cambodia on Feb. 14 with a Cambodian delegation to attend the ASEAN-U.S Summit, in Rancho Mirage, California, scheduled for Feb. 15-16.
