Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 24 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet reaffirmed that the current Royal Government of Cambodia continues to uphold the exemplary leadership of former Prime Minister Hun Sen in supporting Cambodian Muslims during the beginning and conclusion of Ramadan by sending messages of goodwill.

The premier spoke on Monday (Mar. 24) at the 2025 Ramadan Iftar dinner in Phnom Penh.

“Breaking the fast is a fundamental Islamic practice observed by all Khmer Muslims in Cambodia and around the world. At the beginning of Ramadan, I extended my greetings to my fellow Cambodian Muslims and Muslims worldwide, wishing them a blessed and successful completion of Ramadan, following the good example set by Samdech Techo Hun Sen,” the premier underscored.

According to Samdech Thipadei, the Royal Government remains committed to upholding religious freedom and fostering interfaith harmony among all religious communities. It strongly opposes all forms of discrimination and safeguards against the exploitation of religion for commercial purposes that could lead to religious conflicts in Cambodia.

Additionally, the premier encouraged all Khmer Muslim leaders and followers to continue fostering solidarity, friendship, and harmonious relations with other religious communities both nationally and internationally, based on the principles of ethnic and religious unity.

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet also expressed gratitude to the organisers of the Iftar dinner, led by Senior Minister Othman Hassan, for their efforts in promoting solidarity, mutual understanding, and peaceful coexistence within Cambodia’s Muslim community under the umbrella of national peace and security.

The premier added that the gathering provided an opportunity for participants to engage in meaningful dialogue, exchange ideas, and share experiences, strengthening cooperation in advancing ethnic and religious harmony in Cambodia. He also noted that such efforts contribute to maintaining peace, stability, and well-being—physically, mentally, and spiritually—while supporting the country’s socioeconomic development.
