Phnom Penh (FN), Apr. 18 – The Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training issued a notice on 17 April 2025 regarding the death of a Cambodian worker due to the earthquake in Thailand.
According to a statement from the Institute of Forensic Medicine at the Police General Hospital concerning the results of a DNA autopsy, the Ministry confirmed that Phalla Ratana, son of Sao Phalla and Chhay Sophon, tragically passed away at the age of 24 due to the earthquake in Thailand on 28 March 2025.
Following this sad news, the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training, the Embassy of Cambodia in Thailand, and the Cambodian Embassy’s Attaché have assumed responsibility for the expenses related to the cremation and the completion of all necessary documentation in accordance with Thai procedures. They are also continuing to follow up on the compensation that the deceased’s family is entitled to receive from the Thai authorities.
Since the earthquake struck Thailand, the Ministry, the Cambodian Embassy, and the Embassy’s Attaché have worked in close coordination with Thai authorities and the Cambodian community in Thailand to locate missing workers and provide timely support to the families of Cambodian nationals who lost their lives or were injured during the natural disaster.
