(Dili): Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate of Cambodia, arrived in Timor-Leste on Wednesday afternoon (May 7) to begin an official visit lasting until May 9. He was warmly received in a grand and dignified ceremony.

Upon arrival, Samdech Techo Hun Sen was welcomed personally by both the president and prime minister of Timor-Leste. The reception included an honour guard and enthusiastic crowds lining the streets.

President José Ramos-Horta shared a heartfelt message on Facebook: “HUN SEN. A good friend, a best friend, visits us. The Liberator and Founder of Modern Cambodia, HUN SEN led his people from genocide to peace and prosperity. I was his driver yesterday.”

The visit marks a significant moment in strengthening bilateral relations and promoting cooperation between Cambodia and Timor-Leste.
