(Tokyo): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet granted an audience to Miki Watanabe, CEO of Watami Co., Ltd. and Director General of School Aid Japan, along with his delegation, during the prime minister’s official working visit to Tokyo, Japan.
During the meeting, Watanabe informed the prime minister that School Aid Japan has been operating in Cambodia for over two decades, notably establishing a children's centre that currently houses and educates more than 100 orphans.
He also highlighted the organization’s efforts in providing vocational training to orphaned students and implementing a breakfast program that has served more than 20,000 students across various schools. Additionally, the organization runs Japanese language classes for Cambodian children.
On the occasion, Watanabe also expressed his deep gratitude to the Royal Government of Cambodia for its full support and informed the prime minister that School Aid Japan plans to construct 20 school buildings annually in Cambodia.
In response, Prime Minister Hun Manet praised and highly appreciated School Aid Japan for its meaningful contributions to Cambodia’s socio-economic development—especially through education and support for orphans and schools. He noted that these efforts align with the government's goals and vision to promote the education sector by strengthening foundational education from primary to secondary levels.
Samdech Thipadei reaffirmed the government’s continued support for the organization’s activities in Cambodia and encouraged School Aid Japan to carry on its commendable mission, which plays a vital role in developing Cambodia’s human resources.
