PHNOM PENH (FN), Feb. 19 - The Phnom Penh Municipal Court on Friday convicted a husband and wife to a year in prison over allegations that they have owed $650, 000 from a businessman but refused to pay him.
Mr. Seng Leang, Judge of Phnom Penh Municipal Court, said that the two accused people are: Tum Sokha, male, 35, fruit vendor; and his wife: Sok Ny, female, 29, fruit vendor. They were charged by municipal court’s prosecutor with “ breach of trust” under articles 391 and 392 of penal code.
He added that they both were arrested based on the plaintiff’s complaint on 3rd July 2015 after they have owned $650, 000 from the plaintiff but refused to pay him.
The two accused people could not be contacted for comments.
