(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Senate President Hun Sen chaired a meeting of the Senate’s Standing Committee on Monday morning (Jun. 16), with five key items on the agenda.

The agenda items were as follows:

First, review and approval of a proposal from the Senate’s Commission on Economy, Finance, Banking, and Audit to include in the agenda of the 3rd Session of the 5th Legislative Term of the Senate the draft laws related to the ratification of 24 agreements by the Royal Government of Cambodia. These agreements involve government guarantees on payments to electricity development investment companies.

Second, review and approval of a proposal from the Senate’s Commission on Planning, Investment, Agriculture, Forestry, Fisheries, Rural Development, Environment, Water Resources, and Meteorology to include the draft Fisheries Law in the agenda of the 3rd Session of the 5th Legislative Term of the Senate.

Third, review and decision on the election of new members, through voting, to fill seats in the Senate’s Commission on Interior, National Defence, Public Functions and Border Affairs, as well as the Commission on Health, Social Affairs, Veterans, Youth, Vocational Training, Labour, and Women’s Affairs, for inclusion in the session’s agenda.

Fourth, Set the date and agenda for the continuation of the 3rd Session of the 5th Legislative Term of the Senate.
