Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 23 - Sok Eysan, Spokesman of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP), said that no one shall compare the leadership and situation of Cambodia to Zimbabwe.
He said the leader of Zimbabwe is over 90 years old while Cambodian leader is only over 60 years old and is in full energy.
This statement was made after some anti-government groups compared Prime Minister Hun Sen with former President Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe which the National Assembly and his ruling party, Zanu-PF, forced him out of power.
The problem in Zimbabwe was due to President Robert Mugabe’s action who had fired his Former Vice President, Emmerson Mnangagwa. The public and politicians suspected that Mugabe wanted his wife to replace the position and run for the next president.
CPP’s Spokeman stated that the leader of Zimbabwe is very old, which is hard for him to serve the people due to his physical health.
He added, “In Cambodia, it is a special case. Only Cambodian people can decide for Cambodia’s destiny. Samdech Prime Minister Hun Sen is only over 60 years old and he has good physical condition, and the majority of Cambodian people supports his mission to serve the country."
