(Phnom Penh): Around 150,000 people from all levels joined the “Solidarity March” on Wednesday morning (Jun. 18), demonstrating unified support for the Royal Government and Cambodia’s frontline forces.
The march commenced at the Koh Pich Convention and Exhibition Centre and proceeded to the Independence Monument.
President of the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia (UYFC) Hun Many, who led and organised the event, stated that this gathering was more than just a national family assembly. It was a display of unity, determination, and trust in the Royal Government and national forces. He emphasised that when the nation needs its people, they will rise together in solidarity to show this spirit.
Hun Many further affirmed that the march carried a clear message: when Cambodia faces threats, its people will not remain silent in the face of any insult to the nation’s honour or territorial integrity.
“We will stand united in spirit to support the Royal Government and our national forces in safeguarding our territorial integrity, national interests, and peace. However, we will always choose to address Cambodia’s issues through peaceful means and legal principles, in accordance with the guidance of Samdech Techo and Samdech Thipadei,” the president of UYFC underscored.
He also expressed heartfelt gratitude and respect to the Supreme Sangha Council, monks, royal family members, political party representatives, civil servants from various ministries and institutions, UYFC leaders and members, students from higher education institutions, youth associations, artists, athletes, students, private sector participants, KOLs, and fellow citizens who came together to show their strong national spirit through the Solidarity March.
With deep appreciation, Hun Many also thanked all involved parties, including the administrations of Phnom Penh, Kandal and Kampong Speu provinces, the National Police Commissariat, Phnom Penh Municipal Police, all armed forces, UYFC working teams, and members of the media who coordinated, organised, and reported on the event, contributing to its great success, which is a proud achievement for the nation.
