(Siem Reap): Cambodian Minister of Culture and Fine Arts, Phoeurng Sackona, asserted that the construction of a replica of Angkor Wat, dubbed "Sihanakhon Temple", inside Phu Man Fah Pagoda in Buri Ram Province, Thailand, constitutes a serious violation of the 1972 World Heritage Convention, a violation of the Outstanding Universal Value (OUV) and authenticity of the Angkor site, a violation of the Khmer cultural identity, and a serious lack of heritage ethics.
The minister spoke at the 40th Technical Session of the International Coordinating Committee for the Safeguarding and Development of the Historic Sites of Angkor and Sambor Prei Kuk (ICC-Angkor/Sambor Prei Kuk) in Siem Reap province on 19-20 June 2025.
