(Kampong Speu): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet called for continued integration of digital technology into curricula at all levels of education, speaking on Tuesday (Jul. 8) at an inauguration of educational achievements in Kampong Speu province.

Samdech Thipadei urged further efforts to establish digital education centres, set up smart classrooms, and expand internet connectivity in educational institutions.

“Please continue integrating digital technology into all levels of education by promoting the establishment of digital education centres, setting up smart classrooms, and connecting internet networks to educational institutions. Additionally, we must strengthen the digital capacity of teachers, incorporate technology into teaching and learning, improve curriculum content, and widely disseminate digital educational resources,” the premier underscored.

The premier also called for ongoing reform of teacher training institutions to improve the quality of teaching in line with national and international professional standards. This includes providing regular professional development and equipping teachers with essential tools aligned with modern teaching methodologies and digital education practices.

On the occasion, Prime Minister Hun Manet emphasised the need to enhance hygiene standards in schools by ensuring readiness for rapid response and prevention, increasing student awareness of health and food safety, and upgrading health-related infrastructure, such as standardised school clinics, green and sustainable environments, and clean, waste-free campuses.

At the same time, the prime minister highlighted the importance of addressing students’ mental health and well-being, advocating for the inclusion of mental health and wellness education programmes within school systems.

Samdech Thipadei also appealed to all ministries, institutions, authorities at all levels, the private sector, civil society, and both national and international organisations to strengthen collaboration with the government in developing Cambodia’s human resources. These efforts should focus on expanding education and training in science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics (STEAM), particularly in digital technology; while also promoting personal ethics to improve the well-being of individuals, families, and Cambodian society as a whole.
