(Phnom Penh): The General Secretariat of the National Election Commission (NEC) states that will will destroy old election ballots on July 24.

The NEC stated that in accordance with the law on the organization and functioning of the National Election Commission, it has the authority to organize a committee to destroy ballots used in the election of representatives of the National Assembly for each mandate after safely storing those ballots for 6 years and ballots used in the election of commune councils for each mandate after safely storing those ballots for 3 years from the election day for each mandate.

In accordance with the spirit of the above law, the NEC will organize a ceremony to destroy ballots used in the 2018, 2019, and 2022 elections, as well as some related materials and documents, under the chairmanship of Mr. Prajna Chan, President of the NEC, on July 24, 2025 at 8:30 a.m. at the Rasmey Angkor Printing House, located at Lot No. 1882, Samrong Teav Village, Kraing Thanong Sangkat, Sen Sok District, Phnom Penh.
