Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 23 - A former driver of a Properties Tycoon and his other two accomplices, were tried by Phnom Penh Municipal Court on Tuesday over allegedly drugs distributing committed in Phnom Penh, 2015.
Mr. Nhoeng Saroeun, Judge of Phnom Penh Municipal Court, said that the three accused are: Yorng Reaksmey, male, 29, former driver of Oknha Prum Sothy; Yim Phaneth, male, 19; and Sok Vannak, male, 19. They were charged by municipal court’s prosecutor with “drug trafficking” under 40 of Law on Drug Control.
He added that they were arrested by municipal military police force while they have brought drugs for sale to the group of drug users in Chbar Ampov District on 29th September 2015 night. After their arrests, military police seized a total of 18 small packages of meths from them.
At trial, Sok Vannak and Yim Phaneth admitted their mistakes. They asked the court to mitigate their sentences. But Yorng Reaksmey denied the allegations. He requested the court to release him.
Their verdicts will be released by the court on the afternoon of February 26.
