(Phnom Penh): Students from the Faculty of Digital Technologies at the American University of Phnom Penh (AUPP) have achieved exceptional success across multiple regional and international competitions within just one week, marking a significantmilestone for Cambodian youth in technology, innovation, and digital excellence.
Huawei ICT Asia-Pacific Competition
In a competition featuring more than 8,000 participants across the Asia-Pacific region, AUPP students delivered outstanding performance. The team secured Second Prize in Artificial Intelligence Innovation and became the only Cambodian team to advance to the Global Round in Shenzhen, China this June. They also earned Third Prize in Cloud Technology and Third Prize in Network Technology, demonstrating strong technical excellence across multiple domains.
AI Ready ASEAN Youth Challenge
Organized by the ASEAN Foundation, Google.org, and AI Singapore, with over 600 teams from all 11 ASEAN countries, AUPP students achieved Second Prize and stood out as the only Cambodian team to receive this prestigious regional recognition. The award was presented by Tharman Shanmugaratnam, President of Singapore.
The team also had the honor of taking commemorative photos with Chea Vandeth, Minister of Post and Telecommunications of Cambodia, alongside ASEAN digital ministers. Their project, Voha.ai, is an AI-powered speech learning platform designed to support hearing-impaired children through interactive, visual, and gamified learning using computer vision and speech recognition technologies.
BorNEO HackWknd 26 — ASEAN
AUPP students have also secured Third Place at the BorNEO HackWknd 26 — ASEAN in Malaysia. Competing against the Top 20 teams from across Southeast Asia, the team impressed judges with SAMSOM, an AI-powered financial literacy application designed to make financial education more accessible, interactive, and impactful for users.
These remarkable achievements collectively reflect the rising strength of AUPP Faculty of Digital Technologies' students and underscore the university’s commitment to cultivating innovation, technical excellence, and future-ready leaders who are actively shaping Cambodia’s digital future on the global stage.
