(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Minister of Post and Telecommunications Chea Vandeth said the United States has been a longstanding and important partner in Cambodia’s development, contributing significantly across multiple sectors.
Speaking at the opening of the Freedom 250 Founders Museum, organised by the US Embassy in Cambodia to celebrate 250 years of American history and innovation, the minister addressed around 70 attendees, including US Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Benjamin Chiang, government officials, educators, and embassy guests at the AmCam Exchange Centre in Phnom Penh on 16 June.
On the occasion, the minister highlighted US support for Cambodia’s development in education, public health, economic growth, demining, cultural preservation, and institutional capacity building. He also underscored the United States’ role in developing Cambodia’s human capital through scholarships, educational exchanges, leadership initiatives, and professional training programmes.
The minister further commended the US for promoting entrepreneurship, supporting startups, and advancing innovation worldwide.
Concluding his remarks, Minister Chea Vandeth expressed appreciation to the United States, particularly President Donald Trump, for efforts that helped facilitate the ceasefire agreement between Cambodia and Thailand signed in Kuala Lumpur.
