(Phnom Penh): Xaysomphone Phomvihane, President of the National Assembly of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, sent a congratulatory letter to Senate President Samdech Techo Hun Sen on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Laos and Cambodia (15 June 1956–15 June 2026), according to a letter seen by Fresh News on Monday (Jun. 29).

In the letter, Lao National Assembly President Xaysomphone Phomvihane stated, “On the auspicious occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Lao People's Democratic Republic and the Kingdom of Cambodia (15 June 1956 - 15 June 2026), on behalf of the National Assembly of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, the multi-ethnic Lao people, and on my own behalf, I wish to extend my warmest congratulations, best wishes, and most distinguished congratulations to Samdech, and through Samdech, to all members of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia.”

“I am greatly heartened to witness that over the past 70 years, the traditional bonds of friendship between our two nations, Lao and Cambodia, have been continuously nurtured and further strengthened, yielding tangible benefits for the peoples of our two countries,” he added.

President Xaysomphone Phomvihane emphasised, “I am firmly committed to working closely with Samdech to continue advancing our traditional friendship and excellent cooperation, as well as the comprehensive and long-lasting strategic partnership between our two countries, for the mutual benefit of our nations.”

“May the long-standing traditional friendship, solidarity, comprehensive and long-lasting strategic partnership between the Lao PDR and the Kingdom of Cambodia, as well as between the two legislative bodies, continue to grow and yield ever greater achievements,” concluded the president.
