BEIJING, Jan. 23 (Xinhua) — According to the latest figures from the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC), an 8.0-magnitude earthquake hit the Gulf of Alaska of the United States at 5:31 p.m. Tuesday (Beijing Time).

The epicenter was monitored at 55.96 degrees north latitude and 149.13 degrees west longitude.

The quake struck at a depth of about 10 km.
