(China): Shandong (Cambodia) Economic and Technological Development Zone, a major Chinese investor in Cambodia's agro-industrial sector, plans to expand its investments in the kingdom, with renewable energy among its priority sectors.

The investment plans were discussed during a courtesy meeting on Wednesday (Jul. 15) between Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and Wu Yujie, the company's representative.

Wu praised Cambodia's rapid socio-economic development and expressed confidence that the country would continue its strong growth under Prime Minister Hun Manet's leadership.

He said the company has been operating in Cambodia since 2012, focusing on cashew cultivation and industrial park development, and reaffirmed its commitment to contributing to the kingdom's long-term economic development. Looking ahead, Wu said the company intends to broaden its investment portfolio, particularly in renewable energy.

For his part, Prime Minister Hun Manet highly appreciated Shandong (Cambodia) Economic and Technological Development Zone for its confidence in Cambodia, its investment in the country, and its active contribution to socio-economic development.

He welcomed the company’s plan to expand investment and encouraged continued engagement and discussions with relevant ministries and institutions to transform investment opportunities into concrete projects.

Samdech Thipadei also invited the company to explore greater investment in agriculture and agro-industry in Cambodia's northeastern provinces, citing its expertise in cashew cultivation and highlighting the government's investment incentives for agricultural development in the region.

Shandong (Cambodia) Economic and Technological Development Zone is a major Chinese agro-industrial investment hub. Since 2012, the company has been investing in Cambodia’s agricultural sector, with a focus on cassava and cashew nuts. It plans to further expand its investment in these sectors and establish additional cashew nut processing plants in Cambodia. These investments have made a significant contribution to job creation, both directly and indirectly, while promoting the development of Cambodia’s agro-industrial sector.
