(Laos): Khim Finan, Undersecretary of State of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries, on Sunday (Jul. 26), presided over a ceremony marking the launch of the first shipment of fresh durians to China by road through Laos.
The first shipment, consisting of three containers weighing over 50 tonnes, was exported by Pechenda Fruit Production Co., Ltd. to the Chinese market via a land transportation route through Laos.
According to Khim Finan, Cambodia’s fresh durian exports to China reached 5,738 tonnes in the first seven months of 2026, representing an increase of nearly 40 times compared with the country’s total durian exports to China in 2025.
This achievement is the result of active efforts by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries to coordinate and open a new land transportation route through Laos. As a result, the new route has reduced transportation time to just five days, compared with 15 to 20 days by sea.
Moreover, although the new export route has only recently become operational, it is already handling nearly 10 per cent of Cambodia’s total fresh durian exports to the Chinese market in 2026.
