(Phnom Penh): Kandal Provincial Governor Kuoch Chamroeun removed the chief of Setbo Health Centre from his leadership position following a viral video showing him administering emergency treatment to a 17-year-old female patient, according to an administrative order issued on Tuesday (Aug. 4).
Under the order, Chhun Phally was relieved of his duties as chief of Setbo Health Centre and reassigned as a health official under the Kandal Provincial Administration. The decision took immediate effect.
The administrative order did not specify the reason for the reassignment. However, it came after a video of Phally providing first aid to the teenage patient circulated widely on social media, drawing significant public attention and criticism.
The footage sparked debate over whether the emergency treatment was conducted in accordance with accepted medical procedures. Some social media users alleged that the manner in which the patient was handled was inappropriate and violated her dignity, while others questioned whether proper resuscitation protocols had been followed during the emergency response.
