(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Tourism Minister Huot Hak led the “Run for the Mekong River Dolphins: Connecting Tourism in the Green Season”, a 5-kilometre event in Stung Treng Province aimed at promoting tourism, healthy lifestyles, and dolphin conservation.

Around 1,000 participants, including government officials, tourism operators, private sector representatives, students, influencers, and local residents, joined the run as part of Cambodia’s 2026 Green Season Tourism Event.

Minister Huot Hak said the event combines sports, nature conservation, and tourism promotion, while highlighting Stung Treng as a leading ecotourism destination in northeastern Cambodia.

He encouraged domestic and international tourists to visit Stung Treng, experience its freshwater Mekong River dolphins, beautiful flooded forests, and community-based tourism, while supporting local livelihoods and protecting Cambodia’s natural heritage.

“Running for the Mekong River Dolphins is not only a sport for health; it is a run to promote tourism, a run for nature, and a run to unite in conserving the Mekong River dolphins,” the minister said.
