(Phnom Penh): Techo International Airport (TIA) welcomed nearly 2 million international passengers during its first year of operation, while contributing approximately 5 per cent to Cambodia’s economic growth, according to Sin Chansereyvutha, Secretary of State and Spokesperson for the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation.

Sin Chansereyvutha said passenger traffic remained broadly stable despite disruptions linked to the Middle East conflict, while air cargo volumes entering and leaving Cambodia continued to grow.

To support rising demand and strengthen Cambodia’s aviation and logistics capacity, TIA is expanding its cargo facilities and developing aircraft maintenance hangars in cooperation with international partners, including those from Singapore.

Spanning more than 2,600 hectares, TIA is classified as a 4F airport, enabling it to accommodate long-haul intercontinental flights and some of the world’s largest commercial aircraft, including the Airbus A380-800 and Boeing 747-8.

According to Cambodia’s civil aviation authorities, TIA ranks ninth globally among 4F-class airports.

The airport has also gained international recognition for its design, with CNN naming it among 11 architecture projects shaping the world in 2025.
