(Siem Reap): The European Union (EU) approved a €1.599 million (USD 1.8 million) grant to support the Cambodian Mine Action Centre (CMAC) and APOPO in clearing mines and unexploded ordnance (UXO) in Cambodia.

In a social media post on Tuesday (Sep. 22), CMAC Director General Heng Ratana said he held a working discussion with an EU regional delegation led by Andreas Roettger, Head of the FPI Team, at the Techo Peace Museum in Siem Reap.

The 18-month project, starting in October 2026, will be implemented in Preah Vihear and Oddar Meanchey provinces, supporting the clearance of more than 6,000 hectares, mine risk education, and the deployment of technical survey dogs to accelerate demining operations.

Heng Ratana expressed gratitude for the EU's continued support and reaffirmed CMAC's commitment to strengthening cooperation with the EU to build a safer Cambodia free from the threats posed by explosive remnants of war.
