(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet reaffirmed Cambodia’s commitment to an independent foreign policy grounded in international law, multilateralism and the peaceful resolution of disputes through dialogue.
The premier spoke on Monday (Oct. 5) while presiding over the 25th General Assembly of the Veterans Confederation of ASEAN Countries (VECONAC) at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh.
“Despite the complex regional and global geopolitical environment, economic uncertainties and growing non-traditional security challenges, Cambodia remains committed to an independent foreign policy based on international law, the promotion of multilateralism and the peaceful resolution of disputes through dialogue, drawing on the spirit of the ‘Win-Win Policy’ as a guiding philosophy for peacebuilding,” Samdech Thipadei said.
On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei also highlighted the close link between peace, economic growth and social development, saying Cambodia’s stability and economic progress have enabled the government to strengthen national institutions and social protection systems while allocating greater resources to support veterans and pensioners.
The prime minister also urged VECONAC to deepen regional cooperation, strengthen veterans’ welfare and promote veterans as peace educators, stressing that their experiences and sacrifices offer valuable lessons for younger generations.
