(Phnom Penh): Cambodia facilitated a field visit by the ASEAN Observer Team in Cambodia (AOT-KH) on Wednesday (Oct. 7) to observe, verify, and report on the situation along the Cambodia-Thailand border at the An Ses Border Checkpoint in Preah Vihear province.
According to Lieutenant General Maly Socheata, Spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defence, the Cambodian Liaison Group (CLG) facilitated the visit at 10:24 a.m. in Choam Ksan District, Preah Vihear Province.
The ministry said that since the ceasefire took effect on 27 December 2025, Thai forces have continued to deploy shipping containers, lay barbed wire, dig trenches and build fortifications in the An Ses area, while destroying infrastructure, houses and civilian property and occupying Cambodian territory.
As a result, 1,114 Cambodian civilians from 357 families, including 711 women and 597 children, remain unable to return to their homes, the ministry said.
The ministry reaffirmed the Royal Government of Cambodia’s firm position on protecting the international boundary established by the Indochina-Siam Boundary Commission, in accordance with international law, relevant treaties, maps, boundary records and agreements between the two countries.
Cambodia also reaffirmed that it does not recognise any border alterations resulting from the use of force and remains committed to fully implementing the 27 December 2025 Joint Statement of the Third Special Meeting of the Cambodia-Thailand General Border Committee (GBC), the 26 October 2025 Joint Declaration on the Peace Agreement, and other relevant agreements to restore normalcy.
