Kratie (FN), March 9 - Kratie Provincial Authority issued a press release on Thursday to reject the misinformed news from the Phnom Penh Post, Koh Santepheap, and other social media outlets.

“The authority exercised their rights to protect a company from a land violation by a small group of villagers. A joint working group coordinated to dismantle three blockades on National Road 76 that had been set up by villagers on the disputed land in Memot Rubber Plantation, however, villagers violently attacked the authorities using knife, axe, cane, stone, bow, gasoline, air gun. In response, the authority shot to the sky for self-defense,” according to the press release.

“The report that said at least six villagers were shot dead and more than 40 others were injured in the clash were a false information. Only nine people injured in total, including seven authorities and two villagers,” it added.
