Phnom Penh (FN), March 28 - Cambodia will host the 15th ASEAN-China Expo 2018 for three days, from March 30 to April 1, 2018, to be held at the Diamond Island Exhibition and Convention Center in Phnom Penh.
Speaking at a press conference on China-ASEAN Expo 2018 on Wednesday, Seang Thay, Director General of Trade Promotion General Directorate of Ministry of Commerce, said the expo aims to promote bilateral trade and strengthen commercial ties between Cambodia and China in accordance to the comprehensive development strategy in the field of trade connectivity.
Seang Thay added that the expo will strengthen regional trade cooperation on the occasion that Cambodia will host the 15th China-ASEAN Trade Fair in 2018 and to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the establishment of strategic partnership between ASEAN and China and the China-ASEAN Trade Fair to, especially to mark the 60th Anniversary of China-Cambodia Diplomatic Relations.
According to Seang Thay, 440 stalls will be exhibited at the 2018 China-ASEAN Expo, of which 54 are standard and 290 are from China's major cities and famous companies, such as China Unicom and Guangdong Nuclear Power.
The exhibition will feature a wide range of products and services, including agroindustry, light industry, infrastructure and construction, information technology, tourism, education and human resources, finance and banking, research and development, transport and other related sectors.
The China-ASEAN Expo 2018 is an important forum to promote economic, trade, politics, diplomacy and culture between the two countries, especially developing investment opportunities and business activities as well as building regional and local markets within the framework of the ASEAN-China Free Trade Area and Cambodia-China comprehensive cooperation. The forum also promotes regional economic integration.
The China-ASEAN Trade Fair is held every year since 2014 under the initiative of the ASEAN-China Leadership Summit in the seventh ASEAN-China Summit on October 8, 2003.
The trade fair is organized by the China-ASEAN Expo Secretariat co-hosted by the 10 ASEAN member countries each year and that each of ASEAN Member State will be the honorable chair. This year marks the 15th anniversary of the China-ASEAN Trade Fair, which Cambodia is an honorable host.
