Battambang (FN), April 23 – Lieutenant general in the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces Hun Manet stated that the opposition party used to criticize the government for not paying attention to the army’s livings, but in the assembly, the opposition never voted to promote salaries to armed forces and civil servants.

The statement was made at the launching of the army training course in Battambang on Sunday.

"Armed forces shall not become a political tool to serve politicians' ambition to gain power,” Manet stated adding that the opposition used to urge the armed forces to rise up against the government.

“Such action could lead to civil war,” he stated.

He appealed to the public to trust the legitimate government in defending the Kingdom’s sovereignty.
