Phnom Penh (FN), April 26 - In addition to forming the “Chhantak Khmer Party”, Kong Mony Ka, the son of former leader of the Sam Rainsy Party Kong Korm, wanted his party to become a new body of the former opposition party.

"The party was established to follow the people’s will expressed in 2013 and 2017, to restore democracy, to continue the works from the dissolved opposition party”, said Kong Mony Ka.

Kong Mony Ka said that the party was co-founded by seven co-founders, but they are not the leaders whom political rights were cut off.

He added that he will be the president of the party to race in the national election on July 29, 2018.

He hoped those former supporters of the dissolved opposition party will support his new party.
