HEBRON, West Bank, June 2 (Xinhua) — A Palestinian man was killed by Israeli gunfire on Saturday in the southern West Bank city of Hebron, the Palestinian health ministry said.

The ministry did not reveal more details of the man's death in an e-mailed press statement.

But Palestinian security sources told Xinhua that the killed man was identified as 30-year-old Rami Sabarneh, who was working close to an Israeli army barrier.

They also said Israeli soldiers prevented Palestinian ambulances from reaching him after the deadly incident.

However, Israel said he was killed after trying to run his vehicle over Israeli soldiers.
