Phnom Penh (FN), June 5 – The Appeal Judge Suos Sam Ath denied release on bail for former president of opposition party president Kem Sokha, Touch Tharith, deputy secretary general and spokesman for the Court of Appeals told Fresh News on Tuesday.

The hearing was held on bail and did not open to public.

Kem Sokha was arrested at his house at 00:35 am on September 3, 2017 by justice police in his house located in Toul Kok, Phnom Penh.

The arrest was made when Sokha appeared in a video to initiate plans to topple the government. His offence subjects to a penalty of 15 to 30 years in prison based on article 443 of the Criminal Code.

In March 2018, the Phnom Penh Municipal Court issued the verdict to extend pre-trial detention for Kem Sokha after a full day interrogation in Tropang Phlong prison in Tbong Khmum province.
