Phnom Penh (FN), June 22 – Following the submission of petitions to Cambodian Ministry of Labor, 30 former US embassy staff, representing the 32 former employees terminated by the US Embassy Phnom Penh in April 2018, appeared at the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training on Friday to clarify the case and ask for assistance and justice.

On 19 June 2018, at least 20 former staff who have individually worked for the embassy from 5 to 20 years held a non-violence protest and a press conference from 8 a.m to 11 a.m in front of the US embassy near Wat Phnom.

They claimed that the dismissal was premeditated, as it was not reasonable at all. They were accused of sharing a child pornographic photo in a private Facebook group messenger.
