WASHINGTON, July 1 (Anadolu) - The US Defense Department on Friday announced $820 million in additional security assistance for Ukraine, Pentagon Press Secretary Todd Breasseale said.

"This includes an authorization of a Presidential Drawdown of security assistance valued at up to $50 million, as well as $770 million in Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI) funds," said Breasseale.

The new package includes additional ammunition for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS), as well as two National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile Systems (NASAMS), up to 150,000 rounds of 155mm artillery ammunition and four additional counter-artillery radars.

The US has so far allocated nearly $7.6 billion in security assistance to Ukraine since the beginning of the Biden administration, including approximately $6.9 billion since Russia’s war, which began on Feb. 24.

Since 2014, the US has committed more than $8.8 billion in security assistance.

"The United States continues to work with its Allies and partners to provide Ukraine with capabilities to meet its evolving battlefield requirements," Breasseale said.
