Yunnan (FN), Nov. 6 – A Chinese agricultural company has expressed interest in investing in Cambodia's agricultural sector, specifically in establishing a durian processing plant for export to China.
Xuemei Chen, Chairman of Zhengzhou Chen's Sun, paid a courtesy call on Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet on Wednesday (Nov. 6) in Kunming, Yunnan Province, China.
During the meeting, Xuemei Chen informed Samdech Thipadei that she had visited Cambodia in 2018 and recognised the kingdom’s great potential in agriculture, particularly in the fruit industry. She expressed interest in investing in Cambodia's agricultural sector, especially durian and processing plants for export to China and other countries. Through this investment, it will contribute to job creation, increase income and improve citizens' livelihood.
For his part, Samdech Thipadei welcomed the company's interest in Cambodia's agricultural sector, especially in durian. He highlighted Cambodia's potential to produce a variety of agricultural products for competitive international markets. He also encouraged the company to engage in detailed discussions and work closely with relevant ministries, government institutions, and local partners to bring the investment plans to fruition in the near future.
