Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 27 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet reaffirmed that promoting religious harmony is ingrained in the DNA of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP), speaking on Thursday (Feb. 27) at the opening ceremony of the Islamic Summit under the theme “Islam and Buddhism” at Sokha Phnom Penh Hotel.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet reaffirmed that “Nation, Religion, King” is the core motto of Cambodia, with the Constitution designating Buddhism as the state religion. He also expressed pride in the Muslim World League’s recognition of Cambodia’s solidarity, tolerance, rejection of extremism, and religious and ethnic harmony—foundations carefully built and preserved by Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate. These values, he added, are essential to Cambodia’s long-term peace and stability.
Samdech Thipadei reiterated, “As I recently stated, promoting religious harmony is ingrained in the DNA of the Cambodian People’s Party. Throughout every government mandate under our leadership, we have upheld this principle. As the next leader, I assure you that we will continue this commitment, as it is the foundation of peace and harmony in our society.”
On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet stated that support for Cambodian Muslims and followers of other religions extends from the top leaders, who practice Buddhism, to the grassroots level.
