Phnom Penh (FN), May 29 - Phnom Penh municipal court continued to proceed Khan Sovan's complaint against Pheng Vannak, court spokesman Ly Sophanna told Fresh News on 29 May 2019.

Facebook commentator Khan Sovan filed complaints against his counterpart Vannak for intentional violence, threaten to kill, public defamation and intimidation, and claim USD 1. 2 million compensation.

Vannak is currently detained at Prey Sar Prison, allegedly charged with defamation and incitement. Facebook user and also military officer, Vannak, through his Facebook page, accused the Premier as a man behind the murder of political commentator Kem Ley.

Prime Minister’s lawyer Ky Tech filed complaints to the court on 1 April 2019 stating that Vannak used Facebook to incite the public for criminal acts.

According to Articles 494 and 495 of the Penal Code, Pheng Vannak could face the sentence from six months to two years imprisonment and a fine from 1 million Riels (USD 250) to 4 million Riels (USD 1,000).
