Phnom Penh (FN), June 12 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen urged all the journalist to collectively strengthen the law enforcement and professional ethics in order to avoid fake news dissemination, insults, hateful incitement, discrimination, conflicts between races, religions as well as exaggerating news from its real source, which could harm the social security, addressing at the opening of the 16th Asia Media Summit under the Topic of “Media Digitalization Focusing on Developing Markets”, held in Siem Reap on 12 June 2019.

Strongman Hun Sen also appealed for enhanced cooperation in thwarting fake news and cyber-crimes in information communication through disseminating real news to counter fake news.

The 16th Asia Media Summit was co-organized by Ministry of Information of the Royal Kingdom of Cambodia in collaboration with the Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD).

Attended by over 500 local and international journalists from over 40 countries across the world, the Summit looks into the progresses and challenges as well as mutual sharing across the continent. The conference provides a unique opportunity for broadcasters in the region to share their thoughts on Broadcasting and Information.

The 16th AMS touches on important topics as how can we adopt digital revolution; envisioning the media in the 4 Industrial Revolution; disinformation and new media; monetization in traditional media new media; technologies for distribution of media contents; preserving our times through archives, and more.
