Phnom Penh (FN), Aug. 30 – Prime Minister Hun Sen announced to step down if he fails to arrest convict Sam Rainsy within 24 hours the moment Rainsy enters Cambodia, speaking in an exclusive interview with Fresh News CEO Lim Chea Vutha on Friday morning.

“I accept the bet with Sam Rainsy. If you land in Cambodia on 9 November 2019, and I fail to arrest you within 24 hours, I will be willing to step down,” the premier stated.

“But if I arrest you [Rainsy], you will end your political career and dissolve all the political organizations you have formed. On the other hand, if you do not have courage to come back to Cambodia, you will also end your political career and dissolve your political organizations. Do you dare to bet?” the premier continued.

“Another point is the oath. If anyone does not keep his promise, I would like to request all the sacred items in the world to end the life of the man who fails to keep promise as well as their families. Do you dare? For this bet, I would like all Cambodians nationwide to witness and Fresh News to report. ”

The premier’s announcement came after Sam Rainsy's comment on 29 August 2019, daring Prime Minister to resign if Sam Rainsy returns to Cambodia on 9 November 2019.

Should Sam Rainsy accepts the bet, Rainsy must officially announced his arrival in Cambodia on 9 November 2019 at a specific gate/port and that he is forbidden to use any tricks by taking pictures anywhere outside the territory of Cambodia and stating that "he is in Cambodia".
