Phnom Penh (FN) Sept. 30 – Cambodian Strongman Hun Sen considered his eldest son Hun Manet’s wager with Sam Rainsy “the act of eliminating traitor”.

“Listen to my son’s response to the accusations of the traitor [Sam Rainsy]. It is high time my son attacked this traitor, as he attacked my son [Hun Manet] first,” the premier wrote on his Facebook on Monday shortly after Manet dared former opposition leader Rainsy to bet over allegations that Manet's degree from West Point was fake.

“A wager is something that I do not want to do, but I have no other choices to protect my honour and dignity from baseless attacks by some individuals,” General Hun Manet, the eldest son of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, wrote on his Facebook page earlier today.

“Sam Rainsy continuously attacks my family, including me and my siblings. I was shocked to see Mr. Rainsy’s public speech to his supporters in the United States (28 September 2019) that the degree I received from the United States Military Academy, West Point, was a fake one,” Manet continued.

According to Manet’s Facebook page, Rainsy said: “Hun Manet’s degree from West Point was a diplomatic degree granted to international military students as a motivation; students do not have to study hard to get it.”

“I would like to invite Mr. Sam Rainsy to wager in order for us to defend our dignity on the condition that if my degree is fake, I will quit military; if it is a real one, Rainsy shall quit politics,” Manet wrote.

Hun Manet believed that Sam Rainsy will agree to wager with him, as Rainsy wants to maintain his integrity and be a role model for his supporters; otherwise, Rainsy would be just an old-aged, and the irresponsible politician, who could not be a role model for the next generation youths, he said.
