RIYADH, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- Saudi State Minister for Foreign Affairs Adel al-Jubeir described on Monday the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to the kingdom as "historic."

Putin will arrive in Saudi Arabia on Monday and then visit the United Arab Emirates to discuss topics of common interests with the leaders of the two Gulf countries.

In tweets posted via the official account of the Saudi Foreign Ministry, al-Jubeir said Putin's visit aims to reinforce ties between Russia and Saudi Arabia, especially the exchange of expertise in different sectors.

The visit will witness the signing of various agreements, the Saudi minister noted, adding Russia and Saudi Arabia share common ground in energy and oil affairs, as well as on the security and stability of the Middle East.
