Busan (FN), Nov. 24 – Deputy Prime Minister Prak Sokhonn, Cambodia's minister of foreign affairs and a special envoy of Prime Minister Hun Sen, has arrived ROK's Busan safe to attend ASEAN-ROK Commemorative Summit and the First Mekong-ROK Summit, held on 24-27 November 2019.

Within the Foreign Ministers’ framework, Minister Prak Sokhonn, together with other Foreign Ministers of Mekong countries, will have a working dinner with H.E. Mrs. Kang Kyung-wha, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the ROK.

ASEAN-ROK Commemorative Summit will mark the 30th Anniversary of the relations between ASEAN and ROK and chart future cooperation to enhance the ASEAN-ROK strategic partnership to a new further height. These two Summits will be another important milestone to further advance the Cambodia-ROK, ASEAN-ROK as well as the Mekong countries-ROK’s partnership for their peoples’ tangible benefits and prosperity.

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen has cancelled joining the event as his mother-in-law is in emergency.

"To fulfill duty as a son, i have no choices other than requesting for apologies from President Moon Jae-in and ASEAN Chairman Prayuth Chan-o-cha for missing such important meetings. Deputy Prime Minister Prak Sokhonn will be my special envoy," the premier wrote on Facebook.

The premier also requested for an understanding from Cambodian students, workers, and businesspeople who prepared to welcome him on 24 November.
