Myanmar (FN), Jan. 15 – Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) Gen. Vong Pisen, on Tuesday, led a delegation to pay a state visit to Myanmar, at the invitation of Min Aung Hlaing, commander-in-chief of the Myanmar Armed Forces.

Gen. Vong Pisen said the visit aims to enhance the two countries' military cooperation, calling for cooperation on exchanging security information, combating transnational crime, terrorism, human trafficking, drug trafficking, and promoting joint trainings.

Gen. Min Aung Hlaing responded that the visit of Gen. Vong Pisen marked the first state visit of Cambodia top commander to Myanmar over the past 65 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

On the same day, Gen. Vong Pisen also paid a courtesy call on Myanmar State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi. The general conveyed regards of Premier Hun Sen to Suu Kyi and the invitations to attend the 2020 Asia-Europe Meeting in Phnom Penh.

It is worth recalling that during the state visit of Myanmar State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi to Cambodia in late April, Cambodia-Myanmar has vowed for stronger ties. Both parties proposed for joint ceremony to encourage and promote tourism in both countries by hosting cultural events in Siem Reap and Bakan – provinces enriched with heritages.
