Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 4 – As of 7 p.m on 4 February 2020, Premier Hun Sen told Fresh News CEO Lim Chea Vutha that the Chinese side has yet confirmed whether he could visit Wuhan, the epicenter of an outbreak of Coronavirus.

“I think it is hard for China to arrange for our visit to Wuhan, for our Cambodian students are banned from leaving the university and the students are not staying together,” said Prime Minister Hun Sen.

Strongman Hun Sen announced that if the Chinese Government allows, he will visit Cambodian students in Wuhan.

The announcement was made at a gathering with Cambodians in South Korea in the evening of 3 February 2020.

“Hun Sen will go if China agrees. Hun Sen dared to invest life to save the nation; and dared to sacrifice the life to bring national unity, and end the war. Hun Sen is not afraid to go to Wuhan to meet and greet Cambodian students,” the premier said.

According to Pen Barang, one of the 23 Cambodian students in Wuhan, Chinese universities have set strict policy to ban any student from the campus in order to prevent being infected by Coronavirus.

Cambodia’s Ministry of Education issued a press release on 4 February 2020 confirming that no Cambodian students in China has been infected.
