Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 16 – The Cambodian Ministry of Health sent a letter to H.E. Hon. Datuk Seri Dr. Dzulkefly Ahmad, Minister of Health of Malaysia, to verify the case of an American woman aged 83 years old tested positive of COVID-19 who had disembarked from the Westerdam ship docked at Sihanoukville Port.

“I would like to kindly request Your Excellency to double check the test of this suspected positive case again to verify the first positive result in order to confirm the accuracy of the result for the case” Cambodian Health Minister Mam Bunheng wrote in the letter addressed to Malaysian health minister, dated 16 February 2020.

Ministry of Health confirmed that a request has been submitted to Malaysia’s Ministry of Health to provide official information through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia, according to the press release issued on Sunday.

It is worth recalling that the Malaysian authority issued a statement on 15 February 2020 that the American woman, disembarking on Friday from Westadam cruise in Cambodia and flew to Malaysia, has been infected with the new coronavirus.
