Phnom Penh (FN), April 1 – For the first quarter of 2020, Cambodia officially exports rice in the total amount of 230,948 tons, increased by 35 percent compared to the same period last year, according to Cambodian Rice Federation’s summary report released on Wednesday.

In term of market destinations, China is the main source of Cambodian rice export, representing 44 percent of the total, equivalent to 101,345 tons, followed by European Union (30 percent) 70,040 tons, ASEAN (over 12 percent) 28,799 tons, and other destinations take the remainder (almost 14 percent) 30,764 tons.

The report added that in March alone, Cambodia exports rice 94,449 tons, increased by 10 percent comparing to February 2020. Comparing of March 2020 to March 2019, the export is increased noticeably by 62 percent, from 58,335 tons to 94,449 tons.
