Phnom Penh (FN), Apr. 7 – Cambodia’s Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training issued a notice on 7 April 2020 to inform the public regarding the suspending of four-day holidays during Khmer New Year to curb the spread of Covid-19.

The Royal Government will reciprocate five-day holidays to workers at a suitable time.

Khmer New Year is usually a three-day public holiday in Cambodia. It starts on either 13 April or 14 April. Despite the cancellation of the official celebrations, the traditional Khmer New Year will still be personally observed by Cambodian families at home. All public gatherings will be prohibited in a bid to curb risks to Covid-19 infections.
