Phnom Penh (FN), Jul. 7 – Australian foreign affairs minister and minister for women Marise Payne reiterated Australia’s commitment to enhance collaboration with Cambodia and ASEAN Member States in the fight against COVID19 pandemic, according to a press release dated Wednesday.
“Underlining Australia’s keen desire to strengthen ASEAN-Australia partnership, she reaffirmed continued support for ASEAN Centrality in the evolving regional architecture and regional integration. Senator the Hon Marise Payne looked forward to the first annual ASEAN-Australia Summit in October 2021 and expressed full support for the success of Cambodia’s Chairmanship of ASEAN in 2022,” Senator the Hon Marise Payne underlined.
Minister Prak Sokhonn thanked Australia for its contribution to Cambodia’s socio-economic development through bilateral, regional and sub-regional platforms. He commended Australia for providing timely support to Cambodia and ASEAN in responding to COVID19 pandemic.
Cambodian minister also highlighted that Australia’s growing substantive engagement with ASEAN will further contribute significantly to economic growth, regional integration and narrowing the development gap within the region.
