Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 1 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen announced the full reopening of the country from 1 November 2021, speaking at the launch of the vaccination campaign for children 5 years old or less on Monday at the Peace Palace.

“From today onward, the country is fully reopened in all sectors. Expect crowded shops and roads,” said the premier

The premier also underlined the Royal Government of Cambodia’s efforts in the fight against COVID19. The government has set out four phases, including preventing COVID19 community transmission from March 2020 to October 2020, controlling the outbreak of COVID19 in the community from November 2020 to February 2021, building community resilience through vaccination campaign and controlling COVID19 community transmission from February 2021 to the present, and lastly, fully re-launching all areas of the kingdom.

Samdech also considered to reopen high-risk businesses. He added that the percentage of death from COVID19 is the most concern as Cambodia’s COVID19 death rate is higher than some countries.

As of 31 October, Cambodia has confirmed 118,522 cases of COVID19 with 114,727 recoveries and 2,788 deaths.
